There were lots of siblings out together for a run this week, Grace and Emily putting in their 10th and 6th parkrun appearances Florence and Charlotte with 4 and 3 apiece, Agrishan and Akshayan with 7 each, Oliver and Jake running for their 5th time together and Will, Leo and Sammy running for their first time together since our inaugural event in July. Between them they have completed 165 junior parkruns - 330km, that's nearly 8 marathons!ĭylan C completed his 11th junior parkrun and earned himself a place in the half marathon club. James L and Sophie L were first male and female finishers on their first trip to Malvern Park in times of 8:35 and 9:52 respectively. We were having fun! Yes our facepaint was running into our eyes, our witches hats were limp and our ghosts were rapidly becoming see through but there were smiles everywhere. I'm sure every adult there was questioning the wisdom of their decision to come out in the torrential rain but once the juniors had warmed up and splashed to the start there were so many happy children splashing, running and jumping through the puddles that the reason for coming out in the rain became clear.
I've lived in Solihull nearly all my life and I have never known what the wooden shelter in the park was designed for but on Sunday morning I felt eternal gratitude for whoever put it there.Ģ4 assorted ghosts, wizards, witches and monsters turned up for the 13th Malvern Park junior parkrun along with 25, soon to be drenched, volunteers.
